KENYA RUGBY UNION CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Established in 1923, the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) is the federation charged with promoting, developing and controlling The Game of Rugby Union in the Republic of Kenya. An award-winning organization, the Union has overseen the emergence of Rugby Union as the best performing ball sport organization in Kenya. As a result, the game has evolved an active band of critical stakeholders.
As part of its commitment to securing sustainable operations and the future of Rugby Union in Kenya, and to make it even more competitive internationally, the KRU now seeks to recruit a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). It’s intended that the CEO provides bold and innovative thought leadership. (S)he will build commercial and other crucial strategies related to the current and future needs of the organization. The CEO will nurture and manage core alliances.

Overall Purpose:
To support the growth of the game of Rugby in Kenya at all levels, through operational management with key responsibility of driving the implementation of the Strategic Plan of the Union

Professional Qualifications
Academic
University Graduate from a recognized University
Work Experience
A Minimum of 3 Years to 5 Years of Experience. Experience in a Sports Management Body is an added advantage.
Prior experience successfully traversing complex multi-stakeholder environments, both domestically and internationally is a definite advantage
Commercial acumen with demonstrable proven contract negotiation, facilitating and influencing skills which reflect an ability to positively affect a net surplus status.

Commercial Management
Create a commercial linkage between rugby product (national teams, leagues, events) and the commercial partners (sponsors, fans, media, merchandise buyers) to the Federation.
Commercial acumen with demonstrable proven contract negotiation, facilitating and influencing skills which reflect an ability to positively affect a net surplus status.
Leadership/ Board and Governance Management skills
Building trustworthy relations with key partners and stakeholders and act as a point of contact for important shareholders
Analyze Federation problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth
Performance Management
Leading and motivating Federation staff a high performing managerial team, and support Sports Development.

Financial – 50% – Growth of revenue streams, expense management, controls and targets

Implementation of Strategic Plans including Technical Results
World Rugby Rating – 10% Stakeholder Management including Game of Rugby, Rugby Clubs, World Rugby, Rugby Africa, NOCK, GOK, KSSSA, KPSSA, KUSA, KRU affiliates – Kenya Rugby commercial partners, Kenya Universities Sports Association, Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association and Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association
Leadership – 10%
Providing all-round leadership to the KRU Secretariat
